Literature Text

Warzone is a co-operative mode of Otherworld, where four players face off against waves of Deathwatch’s minions. The objective is to work together as a team and survive as many waves you can.

The Rules: There are five waves per round, with five rounds in a set. When a set is complete, players will have time to regroup and get ready for the next wave. Whenever you kill an enemy, you receive points depending on the rank of that minion. You can collect points to purchase health, ammunition, open doors to new areas of the map, access map defenses, etc.

The team has an unlimited amount of lives, but when a player dies they cannot respawn until the next wave comes. Before a player dies, they are ‘knocked down’ after losing all their health, this a period in which teammates can save that individual from dying. When all four players die at the same time, it’s game over.

When you complete a full set, there is a bonus round that if completed will reward the team for the next set. The game will not end if all players die during this round.

The Classes: Each player will have a specific role to play when they choose a class. When they do select a class, they choose a character that has a ‘primary ability’ – that is exclusive to them – and a ‘team ability’ that is essential for the team. The classes are:

Warrior – Is a melee focused class, with advanced weapons meant to fight enemies at close quarters – dealing more damage in melee than the other classes, as well as taking damage. However, their weapons rely on battery cells, and when depleted, this class does less damage. The team ability for this class is the ‘Flak Shield’, which protects the warrior from damage and attracts all enemies to him, causing enemies to no longer to target you teammates for a specific amount of time.

Enchanter – Involves characters that use magic. They have a magic meter that will deplete over time. The team ability for this class is the ‘Healing Ray’ which will heal a selected teammate. This class has low armour.

Manipulator – Characters under this class have abilities that manipulate enemies, or the battlefield itself, to the favour of the team. This class has an overshield that will deplete when more damage is taken. The team ability for this class is the ‘Deployable Turret’ that will assist them and the team. This class deals the least damage.

Shooter – Characters that fight from a distance with firearms. Their melee is not as effective as their range damage, save for the primary abilities of certain characters – is the only class that relies on ammunition. The team ability for this class is the “Power Core”, which will not only boost the damage dealt by allies within its radius, but will provide/recharge the ammunition/power of classes – the Warrior’s battery cells, the Enchanter’s magic meter and the Manipulator’s overshield will recharge, while the shooter is provided with more ammunition.

Trading Outposts: There are small trading outposts on the map that players can use, with their points, for whatever they need.
Medpac Outpost: Players can purchase ‘medpacs’ that will restore any lost health. Costs 100 points.
Recharge Outpost: Players can purchase recharge kits to gain more power/ammunition. Costs 100 Points.
Turret Outposts: Players can pay through outposts like these to unlock turrets throughout the map that will fight the enemy. When those turrets are destroyed, players will have to pay again to use them. Costs 500 for machine gun turret, 1000 for a rocket turret, and 3000 for a energy shock cannon.
Drone Outpost: Players can purchase different variety of drones to fight the enemy. Regular drones cost 500, Rocket drones cost 1000, and aerial drones cost 1500 points.
Airstrike Outpost: Players can pay for an airstrike to sweep the field of enemies. Costs 5000 points.
Shield Door Outpost: Players can access new areas of the map by paying these outposts. Prices vary.
Ultimate Outpost: Players can access the following upgrades
- Health Regeneration – For 3000 points, slowly regain health overtime and only works when not attack.
- Improved Durability – For 6000 points, players receive a significant increase to durability.
- Orbital Beacon – For 7000 points, will point out enemies every five minutes for a short period of time.
- Planet Buster – Final attack made by a player – before energy or ammunition runs out – instantly kills enemies with the vicinity of the attack – save for Titans.

Difficulty Multipliers: There are a total of ten difficulty multipliers that activate at random every set. The first multiplier that activates at the beginning of the set will remain until the set ends, while other multipliers are added/taken out.

Barrage – Causes enemies to throw grenades/fire projectiles at a constant rate.
Bruise – Only way to regain health – aside from an Enchanter’s healing ray – is to melee an enemy.
Snake – Enemies will fight with poison.
Ghost – Enemies will be invisible.
E.M.P. – Outposts are temporarily disabled.
Jumpy – Enemies will continuously dodge.
Immunity – Enemies are immune to primary abilities.

Iron – Doubles the health of enemies.
Titan – Enemies are of higher rank.
Zeus – Random airstrikes that hit the entire map.
Omega (Bonus)– This will activate at any time during that will activate all difficulty multipliers.
